Synopsis:
Laila McCarthy is not an ordinary archaeologist!
She has put aside her Sumerian warrior past as Lamashtu, the first vampire, and is enjoying her present unlife. However, recovering dangerous relics always seems to bring Laila face-to-face
with old enemies. Can she defeat them without returning to her old bloodthirsty self? The past will bite you.

The story is entertaining. The characters are a little undeveloped at the moment, but give it some time. The mature content is mostly bloody decapitations, but that is to be expected with vampires being so prominent.
The art is decent, but there are too many angular lines for my taste (maybe a stylistic choice). It could definitely be better with some shading work, because everything is hard lines with a few patterns thrown in. Many panels have problems of perspective and proportion, where the character\'s heads look too big (or is it that their legs are too short?) and buildings are crooked.
The romance is not a compelling reason to read this comic, at least not so far. It seems more like the characters just randomly pair up and sleep together when they have the chance. There\'s no nudity, except what you imagine may be under the covers, and sex is implied rather than explicit.
Overall I think it is a decent effort which has some glaring flaws. If you enjoy vampires, action, and adventure then maybe you can look past the flaws to enjoy the story. As for me, I do intend to keep reading but I also hope the work will improve with time and experience. |
