skythorn 4/5
This webcomic is an early work in webcomic-dom, it shows in some ways, but it is a completed work, with an arc that was, in my reading, unexpected. It\'s worth recognising it was amongst the best of the early webcomics, and it\'s consistency, artwork, quality of inking and linework remains very competitive.

It\'s a beautiful light story to travel through if you have the wish.

For it\'s time, it\'s excellent, but over time, it can be put back to a more realistic \'very good\'.
neverland_forgotten 2/5
most of the story and dialogue make me want to \"cringe\"... the art is good after the first few chapters. story is easy to follow but nothin interesting and very cliched. characters seems kind of vague and personalities are not very clear to me for some... but good backgrounds and overall art.
Miluette 3/5
I enjoyed it overall. Nothing really \"connected\" with me in the entire story, however - certain characters had a lot of potential that kind of petered out, despite how nice the ending was (conceptually). Their designs were prominent, but their personalities didn\'t stick out at all, nor their dialogue. But I liked the artwork (if anything, it showed skill after a while) and the relative simplicity of the plot. It just felt like nothing really happened.
OneMorePelican 3/5
The art is pretty good (the backgrounds are without a doubt amazing), but the characters look somewhat flat, though it might just be me. The storyline is okay, but towards the end it seemed like she was just in ohurry to finish it. The dialogue and flow of the character's conversations, however, seems to be the weak side. If Jerry Holkins were to come ovedr to Australia and help her out with that-just that, not even the storyline (though the comic's over now), and seriously, I doubt Tycho even gives a damn-then I would rate it higher. But for now, if you want to read a mildly engaging comic with impressive art, this is a good starter.

Forgot something- How the hell do you compare this with stuff like Errant Story, Misfile, etc?!
Misfile is an excellant comic. So is Errant Story. Comparing something like Inverloch to them is a disgrace.
Stormblazer 2/5
Severely overrated.
There are good webcomics involved around elves, magic, tokein-ish worlds, errant story for one.

Inverloch is.... the art is good. The plot is so-so. But what really kills it is the dialogue. The dialogue is very strained, like the author is trying to make a point to the detriment of the whole comic. And, as mentioned, the actions tend to be stiff.
Koshou 2/5
Horribly, horribly overrated. The art is usually nice, but the stiff, unnatural poses and disappointing fight scenes will make dedicated art students cringe. I know I did...

The story and characters can both be summed up in one word: generic. Sure, the author tries to redeem herself near the end with a confusing and irrational plot twist, but it's nothing short of eye-roll-worthy. Pacing is too fast in some parts and too slow in others. It would have been better if the comic was longer, so it wouldn't be so unbalanced. The slow beginning takes up too large of a chunk of the story. The dialogue is awful, everyone talks exactly the same way all the time.

The only thing that saves Inverloch from a "poor" rating is the admittedly lovely art. Other than that, it's really not worth it. Don't bother buying the print version. If you really want to rot your brain with yet another generic fantasy comic, just go to the site and read it for free.

Of course, I doubt my opinion is going to matter at all, considering how many blindly rabid fans Inverloch has.
Sanguine9991 5/5
Very good (not over rated at all *sticks tounge out*) 11 out of 10 Also check out errant story, misfile, midlands, earthsong,po st-nuke,directions of destiny, this comic and mac hall(R.I.P)
glottalgeek 3/5
Overrated.

The comic's weakest point, in my opinion, is the dialogue. Sometimes the characters can get really preachy and repetitive. But most importantly there is a lack of wit in the way characters speak. As a counterexample, I mention Dominic Deegan, which also has dialogue which can get a little preachy and repetitive, BUT it more than makes up for that with its abundance of wit.

Now as for story ... I have read a lot of fantasy. And I am tired of the typical fantasy plots, so that biases me towards non-typical fantasy more so than the average reader. The plot of Inverloch is good, but I've seen variants of it a few too many times, and it is not sufficiently superlative to overcome my sense of deja-vu.

My one issue with the art is that I wish the characters were more expressive. Aside from that, the art is excellent, and the main reason I rate this comic 3 starts instead of 2. I particularly like the attention to background detail - it does much to set up the atmosphere.

I recently went back to catch up on what had been added a few months after I first read it, and the most recent chapter (Volume 5, Chapter 2) was just so standard-fantasy that I stopped caring about this strip. Even when it's complete, I doubt I'll finish reading it. I am, however, interested in trying Sarah Ellerton's next project, which sounds like it is more suited to my tastes than Inverloch.

This review is harsher than Inverloch deserves. I was able to get through the first 600 or so pages, which is more than can be said about most webcomics. However, after the disappointment I had after hearing so much praise for this webcomic, I feel I have to balance the glowing reviews on this page, lest someone else with my tastes should chance upon this page.
tootsie 5/5
this is the best fantasy comic that i have seen yet. kudos to the author for a geat story line and beautiful artistry.
teeronline 3/5
A bit overated, the fact that the story is really slow at first. What is really important this comic is goin to the final chapter which draws my attention.
crazygreendaygal 5/5
I have so many great things to say about this comic, but it seems that the other reviewers have already said them. It has the most beautiful art that I have seem in a webcomic, and the story is great.
Logancloud 5/5
Inverloch is absolutely amazing. The artwork is superb, the storyline is amazing and the characters are well thought out. If you are new to reading webcomics, Inverloch is a great example of a very good one.
L'ope 5/5
fabulously realistic art and characters. There is a lot of character development and the plot leaves us immersed. Fabulous fantasy with a lot of people following the budding romance between the thief and the thief catcher.
Ardi Xusi 5/5
My favourite webcomic so far. The art is beautiful and the storyline just keeps me reading.
Chilari 5/5
Been reading Inverloch for quite a while now, and I always look forward to update days. It's absolutely great. If I could put 6 stars, I would.
wodan46 5/5
Don't expect piles of action or barrelfulls of monkeys. This tells an intriguing story and sticks to it. More importantly, most webcomics with this level of artwork and overall quality update once a week. This updates 4 times a week. Nuff said
sivvus 5/5
One of the only comics I've ever read whose storyline, characters and artwork are all as captivating as each other. Excellent!
Rael 5/5
Most awesome!! Love the art and plot. Good comic for any fantasy fans who are lurking around this place.
bounce_ko 5/5
The characters and backgrounds look like they come from a high-quality animation like Spirited Away. Great characterizations too, even of minor characters.
R23 4/5
I'm new to this one, but after reading through it wasn't surprised why it was so popular in the Online Comic world ^^
super05 5/5
the art and the plot, wow

it should be in the top 3
zombiechick9 5/5
One of my absolute favorite webcomics. A great story and beautiful art.
fusedtojuice
With great characters, excellent writing, and mind-blowing artwork it's hard not to love this comic.
nozabato 5/5
Some of the best drawing I've seen with a great storyline. Only 1 update (3-5 pages) a week but it's well worth the wait.
cashacka 5/5

caty 5/5

Sanara 5/5

Excellent in every way you could possibly ask- exceptional art, characters, and story.
Maargoefleubeum 5/5
Best webcomic I have EVER seen...And I've been around for QUITE a while XD. I swear, at first you think it's all ripped off from a fantastic animation, but NO, it's ALL ORIGINAL!! Beautiful art, a tight, epic storyline, and compelling characters make this the best comic ever made. No, I'm not exaggerating.
jellybeansniper 5/5
probably the best all-around art in any comic i've read so far, and definitely one of the best comics out there (guess i'm still kinda biased to megatokyo). awesome storyline, even though i'm usually more into comedic comics, but as an artist, i have to appreciate the effort it takes to draw it and color it, something i just can't do ^^;
inkytwist 5/5
This comic is awesome. There's no other way to put it. The artwork is *gorgeous*, the storyline is smart, and it's updated with at LEAST 3 pages (THREE PAGES) a week!! wow!! A++
Gleezus 5/5
My favorite webcomic to date. The art is fabulous the story is well developed, the characters are great... there's not much more I can say about it... This is a true fantasy comic... I'm a huge fan of the authors Goodkind and Jordan and I'm liking this comic as much as one of their books...
