Synopsis:
Qarakorshaq is Laura Madden’s first webcomic. It is inspired by her research into world mythologies and a long-standing love of fairy tales and the child protagonist in narratives. Qarakoshaq follows the classic story of a child getting lost in the wilderness and meeting fantastical beings who help and hinder his way.

Nikita Arslanev is Russian Kazakh by ancestry, but French by nationality. So this world that his mother has brought him into, it’s new and magical. And like any curious, selfish child, he ventures forth. But of course, like any fairy tale, there are things in the steppes, both falsely familiar and startlingly unknown.

And as Nikita finds himself out of his league, his mother Aliya finds herself back in hers. Desperate to find her son again, she returns to the world of her childhood, and the figures she abandoned along the way.

Qarakorshaq is about childhood, family, and fears. It’s also about unicorns, dragons, and things that go bump in the night. It’s a webcomic, made for the sake of making a webcomic and exploring the things that the creator loves.
