Cajun-spiced, superpowered, hot n' heavy, dark n' deadly science fiction goodness in every everlovin' spoonful.

In 2010, the lives of five people were unraveled under the iron fist of a parasitic universe leaving them cursed thereafter with power over the elements. Juno, the controller of Air, has made a mess since, making enemies with the Cajun mafia and the NOPD, fighting to survive alongside her Controller friends - but being a fugitive isn't what's keeping her awake at night. Nightmarish premonitions haunt her that the attack that left them cursed was only a warning shot... and it won't be the last.

I have to give it a 5 star rating.
I have had the pleasure of watching this comic grow for the last several years. I started reading this when she was still in the middle of the first book. While at first, the story was a little shakey, and the art was only at the point of being decent, the over all feeling of the comic enchanted me. I was thrilled when I found out she had decided to start working on it again, and I think it is one of the best stories on the web.

Some ideas may not be original, but if you really think about it, we all really just borrow from eachother don't we?

Honestly? Even given the cliche's, this is a wonderful comic and a great new perspective on the artform of writing and storytelling through cartooning.

beautiful art. nice story.

I would suggest adding the comic. It's not dead for years like we thought it would be. It's updating again 5x a week. Granted, it's restarted but it's a lot better with more coherent story and art. Book 2 is in progress behind the scenes.

And I agree with a lot of people on here, people said some nasty things. But since when have we known me to stoop to that low level of ignorance? Exactly.

Star Cross'd Destiny was a fairly good story with a uniquely refreshing art style. Unfortunately the author suffers from a dying desire to draw it. the reasons are twofold

1) The author is in poor health
2) Her motivation for the story was drawn from a relationship she was having, they eventually had a nasty breakup and now she has no more motivation.

You could consider this work to be on an extended hiatus, however it may be years (author's words) so you might just want to remove it from your favorites or not add it at all.

This comic has an unusual, heavy-line art style and an intriguing mixture of drawn and photo backgrounds. The backstory sounds a bit kooky, but the plot is gritty. The comic jumps straight into nonstop action and not all of the characters have been filled in yet, but I'm betting it's only a matter of time. It is based on an original (meaning BY THE AUTHOR) novel and thus has a prominent narrative voice.

Awesome art, nice story, fascinating plotline. It's that simple.

Some of the people who've written comments below seem to forget such hits as 'The Highlander', which throws you into a story with little or no introduction to the characters and you're wondering what in the hell is going on. However, as the story progresses, you are introduced to backgrounds and storylines. This comic is no different.

I found no great issues with the storyline when I read book 1 straight through, and I quite enjoy the art. It's better than many I have seen who fancy themselves 'artists', and it's what drew me to this comic initially.

However, some people require too much instant gratification to allow the comic to get to a point of explanation. If this means you, then maybe SCD is not for you. It does not mean that SCD is not an excellent comic, though.

God, if I didn't know any better I'd say all these latest reviews were just out there to slam the artist because these people have nothing better to do. Seems to me like they scimmed the top and were too lazy to even take the time to understand the story and the underlying plot. There are no plot holes in this story and I've read the Graphic Novel version 5 times over. These reviews are nothing but ignorance and attacks.

Star Cross'd Destiny is a great comic. The pacing of it is a little off throughout the first book but to be expected from a comic artist's first work. It evens out very well through Chapter 5. Each character's past is explained per chapter in a more narrative fashion, something you don't see in manga comics often. So if you can't read more than three sentences per page, it obviously is not for you. The art matures a lot throughout the series. As far as cliches go, I disagree. This comic is a lot more realistic than anything I've seen on the net. But it is something you'll want to read in chunks or all the way through. Otherwise, yes it will seem like there are plot holes. It works much better on paper, I'll say that. The story has a lot of growing to do but that's not the fault of the writer. It's the fault of it being an internet comic. So I wouldn't even regard the reviews below. They're plainly biased.
Kyro-Blade 3/5
The story is a little confusing and (in my opinion) jumps to quickly into the story without much setting or time to get to know the characters. But i do particularly like the art ^__^

This comic doesnt even really deserve a 1, but I'll give it out anyway to be nice. Its full of cliche writing, stereotypical characters, and cheap art. Theres absolutely nothing original about this comic. The explanation for various "powers" is wholly unplausable; very little more than pseudo science at best. The writer would have been better off to leave it unexplained or at least seek out something that might possibly work. There was no potential in this premise to begin with considering the ammount of times its all been done before. Done to death you might say. Every bit of it is just laughably stupid. So I guess the 1 is for humor.

...ugh, the script, names and whatever esle he can write on there makes me flinch from the cliche ness or plain no point ness. The art is just to anime for my tastes its oh so very comparable to yugioh. as a result :O 1 star for effort XD
aod 2/5
blah. full of cliches, from the "dark future" to "morose outcasts" to "pretty girl with powers." the artwork is highly derivative, and the story isn't particularly engrossing.
emmanuel 4/5
well then is there anything more to say? the only flaw I could see is that Starcrossed destinty is better read as a whole read rather than wait for a a M-W-F shedule . it's really great to read it for free thought ^^
pillownerd 5/5
Incredible storytelling, real characters that you can relate to, and impressive artwork. The supernatural effects are gorgeous and the car scenes are well thought out. A definite must read!
