Synopsis:
Homicide Detective Yokai Urufu understands too well the dark stain of ones past. It reminds him nightly in blood-soaked dreams where people die by his very hands. He is marked and there is no way to remove its oppression. Yokai turns to his current job as a homicide detective for a respite. But it seems his past now wants to take hold of him again apart from his nightly dreams. It appears Mckinney, a former partner of his from the police force, has been abducted and gone missing and the Chief has called on Yokai and his abilities for assistance.
You see, Yokai isn't your average police detective. Yokai is a demon who can with the tiniest bit of blood track a person like a bloodhound. But unlike the canine from which his monicker comes, Yokai can transmogrify into a wolf/dog-like creature by melting into a pool of blood and emerging from within transformed with the ability to create portals. By these portals Yokai can track a person anywhere and where ever that person's blood may be, even to its source.
These abilities although now used for solving crimes have been purposed and honed from his birth by a clan of demonic assassins who raised him and were the only family he had ever known. Denouncing where he came from, he walked away from that life and his family. Redefining himself and s earching for a new purpose and possibly a new family and a new life, it appears Yokai has been able to do just that. But like the light at the end of the tunnel turns out to be a freight train, Yokai's past is on a collision course with his present. The clan wants him back. But not everything is as it seems.
[blood/hound] is a horror/suspense story told in a noir style inspired by the classic black and white films of Akira Kurosawa and Anime films like Ninja Scroll with a smattering of comedy in tr adition of Evil Dead .
