Synopsis:
"Zombie High" is a reality comic chronicling the life of a 16 year old New Jersey high school student named Toxic. Yes, somebody named their kid Toxic. Best described as a social satire and dark comedy with a horror movie atmosphere, "Zombie High" doesn't try to be funny or scary.

Review: Zombie High
Site: I like the dark overtone and the words are nice and large to read (Perhaps a bit too large for my taste). However I have a slight problem digesting any page with black background and neon colored text. I did it myself and found it a bit like the pages we all learn to hate. Though. Overall it wasn't something that determined my factor of reading the comic.
Art: Very simplistic and very 2-D. Some of the body positioning seemed a bit akward. However, I did find some very well done. (The one of Toxic falling out of the chair sticking out the most in my mind) Coloring was very pleasing, lack of facial expression not so pleasing. Shading excellent. And for some reason the continual bags under Tox's eyes set a good mood for me. Oh, nice blood splattery.
Story: I'm sorry Tox, but I'm sick of the "I'm depressed plot." (You can thank RPG for that one) I will give you props though, I enjoyed very much how you introduced your secondary characters. Like myself, you and I tend to jump around through stories and it confuses both us and the readers. Oh well. And many-many props and kudos for the zombie idea, that just saved your comic altogether. It really added a fresh flare from the useual journalistic comics.
I cannot give an overall yet, but you certainly are above average. I'm glad to have read your comic, keep up the good work. |
