Hell, look at Ancient Egyptian stone carvings or clay tablets -- they're still here.

Not really the best example you could have given, there. Ancient Greek and Latin stood the test of time but Egyptian heiroglyphs were unreadable for centuries, until someone found the Rosetta stone and discovered a way of translating them via Ancient Greek.

DOH! Embarassed

I'll use your example instead -- the Rosetta STONE

That's it -- from now on, all my comics will be acid etched into Adamantium or Unobtainium, or whatever sci-fi super-alloy comes around the pike!

But in 75 years the Reptiloids will come and use the adamantium to plate their deathrays.

Well hopefully, a Reptiloid will glimpse my comic on a deathray and chuckle while he's destroying humanity.

Hehe. When I went to an Egypt exhibit several years ago, I touched one of the blocks with hieroglyphics on it just because it was so OLD and amazing to touch something so OLD. The sign said "do not touch" but there was also absolutely nothing stopping me. 8D

This is also why I like things like relief printing methods.

I back everything up. On two separate CDs just in case one gets corrupted somehow. I'm not very dilligent about this though- I've usually got a couple of months worth of work sitting on my desktop waiting to be burned to disc.

What I'm thinking now, though, is that I should deliver one of each CD to my parents' house for safe keeping. What if there was a fire? I could lose my paper originals, my computer, and both back-ups. Some friends-of-friends in town recently lost everything when their studio space burned down a few months ago. They lost a lot. This has been on my mind since then.

Seriously, CrashPlan is great. It takes care of all this stuff automatically, over the Internet and to local drives and whatever.
