Sometimes less is more...

Lately I've found myself using the Notepad function on my cell phone to jot down any dialogue ideas that I have. It's quick and with me all the time. I can't count the number of times I've come up with an idea, only to forget it later just because I didn't have pen and paper handy (usually while driving).

I can see it now: "Officer, I wasn't texting while driving -- I was writing dialogue for my webcomic!" [/i]

You need a phone with a record function. Less of a traffic hazard.

Yeah, even to the point where they aren't necessarily doing anything specific, but just moving around the room, turning, gesticulating, and so forth. That's pretty good. In some comics the characters just hold the same straight pose in panel after panel--that always gets to me.

I'm VERY guilty of this. The most action they see is the occasional raising of a beer or cigarette. I can draw action, but wanted to make my comic look as boring as possible from the get-go, hence the name.

Ahh I was only thinking of "serious"/story comics. Yours has quality deadpan humor and is an entirely different beast--lack of action really does stand out in a good way there.

And yeah, Red Meat, as has been mentioned, and crazy things like Dinosaur Comics have made successes out of almost no movement. You just gotta be really damn funny to be able to pull that off, but when it works, it works really well. Maybe that's because it's so easy to read without graphic distractions, so like the humor just shoots straight into your brain.

Aw but that's the best part of Red Meat. On the other hand I'm really not a fan of his Earl character.
