(1) Technically any and all webcomics created during the time frame are automatically nominated... if we are told about them. Really, I should not accept any more because it's already March. But I have been adding a few here and there. Self-nominating is fine.
(1b) Next years should be easier and more thought out. This all was a sort of last-minute "fun idea", and experiment.
(2) No votes. It's strictly a Webcomic Beacon Judges Panel.
(2b) Voting is fundamentally flawed with ANY "people's choice". It becomes a popularity contest (History will agree with me). The awards are Webcomic Beacon Awards, so it's largely based on an established source with it's own opinions. It's an extension of our Impressions and Spotlights.
Of course with only 3-5 to be able to be picked, some are more obviously not even going to make it to the Finalists anyways. I mean, even if I wasn;t a judge, I would not put my LEGO comic up there because I already know 10 comics on the list WAY better than mine.
Basically I'm trying to be as inclusive as possible, though it should be understood that some are clearly not going to make it.
Finalists will be a handful (~5-7?) that each judge will bring to the table and discuss who should win, and why.
We will be discussing only the finalists on the show, not the full list... because that would take forever.

Looks like my comic just qualifies--I started in December 2007--so I'll throw it in the mix. It took me a while to get things together but now I'm updating regularly. Thanks for doing this!
