Those really are very pretty pencils, but the thing I really love there is the way you've arranged the panels in that second part. I love the fact that the last panel border in particular follows the stairs. That's brilliant.

Thanks. I did a lot of experimenting with layout on that strip! The result you see is, I think, my 3rd attempt at the art. The results were worth it though.

Thanks!

And I absolutely agree. Inking sucks and I just can't seem to get the same look no matter how I try. I just ruin my pencils.

I've been having some success with Copic Multiliner markers lately. They go down to 0.03 mm (or so they call it--anyway it's really freaking small), and you can preserve a good deal of subtlety with them if you're careful.

Copic, eh?

I never really thought about using those. What the hell, I'll give them a try.

What makes them different than regular pens?

That depends what you mean by "regular" pens. :) But in general:

- They come in an array of tip sizes ranging from extremely minute to fairly thick.

- Their fiber tips are a lot less likely to damage the paper than metal-tipped instruments (dip pens, ballpoints, technical pens, etc).

- Their ink seems to be more or less identical to the India ink I use with a brush, so they blend well in that regard. Also their ink is acid-free, waterproof, and so forth.

Finished this spontaneous 4 page Adventure Time comic today.

The rest, here: Page 2, Page 3, Page 4.

Just for fun. I'm trying to draw more comics, and any excuse to do that is a good excuse in my book.
