I'm getting the True.com ads waaaay too much. They're immensely distracting, there's no way to pause or stop them, and they show up on nearly every pageview for me.

I also hate that ad with the broken script. It only loads when I try to look at the forums, but it loads EVERY time I try to look at the forums, and I'm really sick of discontinuing the script.

Oh, great. That script thing is an ad? I hope it doesn't install anything on my system. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

The True things annoy me too, but they're even worse on mySpace. I don't know what to think about them. I just wish they weren't there. They aren't right IMO... I don't need flirty teen girls on my screen when I'm trying to do my comic stuff ya know? Ugh!

Still the same for me, Fes. Must be a statistical anomaly.

Again, if you just want to get rid of that ad, add the line
127.0.0.1 rmd.atdmt.com
to your HOSTS file.

What that does is tell your computer that the ad's site (rmd.atdmt.com) resides on your computer's loop-back address and that it should look on your computer and only your computer for the images, scripts and markup. Since you probably don't have a website configured on your computer for rmd.atdmt.com, it fails and the image that for some odd reason is located on a secure portion of the site never gets called. As far as your computer is concerned, the image doesn't exist.

If you're using Firefox, you won't even get a broken picture frame for the image. All you'll see is a plain white header above the forums.

That's not the point! The point is that it should not be happening!

personally I don;t even know what the heck a "HOSTS" file is anyway!

EDIT:

just found after I was looking for "%System Root%" in the Windows folder..... it has no way of naturally editing it... when I start mucking around with my computer... well, the last time I had to reformat the whole computer!

It's been a week, it hasn't been fixed. Further complaining about the issue isn't going to help the situation much. For those people that are getting increasingly aggravated about the situation, there is a stopgap measure that they can put into place, instead of continuously clicking the reject certificate button every time the page loads.

So, the way I see it, you can keep complaining about the issue, which has been so far completely ineffective in getting it fixed or you can edit the HOSTS file and it goes away.

And the HOSTS file is formatted as a text file. You can edit it in Notepad. Right click, open with, notepad.

And they can email their problem to ash@thewebcomiclist.com

Please do so, it's the only way any problem is going to get fixed, unfortunately.

Hi... I'm new to this forum (but not forums in general), and I'm having trouble posting a new topic in the "Check out my comic" section. Each time I try to make a post, it gives me this error:

Could not insert new word matches

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1194 Table 'search_wordmatch' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

INSERT INTO search_wordmatch (post_id, word_id, title_match) SELECT 9876, word_id, 0 FROM search_wordlist WHERE word_text IN ('forum', 'work', 'writer', 'artist', 'sabrina', 'teenage', 'witch', 'archie', 'comics', 'free', 'webcomic', 'update', 'monday', 'check', 'mypoorlydrawnlife', 'com')

Line : 251
File : functions_search.php

Am I doing something wrong??

Same over here. "Debug Mode"? What, do we get unlimeted ammo or something?
