*This tutorial only applies to ComicPress. It probably works with any WordPress theme, but I haven't tested it personally.

I love it when people take advantage of the special nature of webcomics and post something other than a static image for that day's comic. Flash animations, YouTube videos, etc.
But from time to time I see people that simply have no idea how to post this stuff AS a comic, and so they leave the comic blank and post the content in the blurb instead.

So I'm going to offer a very simple tutorial on how to do it; if you use Comic Press.

You can see an example of how this looks here:

There's a sample form my comic where instead of a regular page I display a YouTube video.

So let's start off with explaining how to do it with a YouTube video. It's super easy.

1) Get the code for the video. Go to the video on YouTube. Click the "share" link and click "embed." This will give you the HTML code needed for the video. I recommend that you set the video size to the same width as your comic.

2) Put this code into a blank .inc file. Create a new text file, copy the code from YouTube, and paste it into this file. Rename the file so it has the extension .inc instead of .txt

3) Upload this file like a regular comic page. Say whuuuut? That's right, it's that flipping easy. Comic Press is already set up to use any kind of file as a comic for that day. All you need to so is give it something that it can display in the middle of a page. It can be a selection of HTML code. In fact, that's what we did today. We made a file with the HTML code that we would want it to display, and we give it that file.

So what if you want some other kind of content?
Create it in a form that can be displayed in a webpage, and upload it. If the content itself can't be displayed in the middle of the page, then find out how to get it to display properly using HTML code, and then put that code into a file that you upload.
