Despite the fact that I made up a new name for the fantasy world in my comic, the domain I originally wanted was taken. But now I have discovered that said domain has expired, and I may be able to purchase it. Since my comic is still new and my readers measure with only two digits, now would be the best time I would ever have to do this.

I'm still considering it, but as I do I thought I would ask if anyone here has ever changed the domain for their comic, because if they have I would like to learn from their experience.

So, please share any insight anyone here may have on changing domains.

If you decide to move to a new domain, you should use a 301 redirect using .htaccess to forward all users to the new URL. This way you will not lose any traffic, since people who will navigate to your old URL will get redirected to the new URL seamlessly.
