Hi, so I'm a long time lurker, but I've made the decision to not lurk anymore. I'm a writer. I don't have an artistic bone in my body. I believe that anyone can draw the same way I believe anyone can be an astronaut - technically true, but in practice not everyone has the chops.

I do have a webcomic that's of course drawn by someone else. It's about a supervillain who does things - I wanted to combine superheroes and slice of life.

So, yeah, I'll never be able to commiserate about actually drawing a comic, but I can totally commiserate about writing it!

Welcome, Amanda! I believe that anyone can draw in the same way I believe anyone can play piano. Not everyone will be a concert pianist, but with enough practice anyone can pound out some songs. Smile

Which is not to say that I think less of you for not being an artist or anything! Just that contrary to what many people i meet seem to believe, it's not a gift, only a skill.

I am also the writing part of my webcomic, so I can commiserate you on being the less visible part on comic creation (If comics where a rock band, penciler would be the lead singer or guitar, while the writer would be the bassist or drums player).

Well, I can draw, with all the skill of a 9 year old, so as ttallan said, there might still be hope.

I'm an artist (I hijacked the writers forum account) for our comic, and the guy above is right about art it is more skill than talent. I have talent for realism, so the comic we do is highly cartooned up. When we started I couldn't draw a cartoon to save my life, its all practice.
Its nice to have someone new on the forum, and I'd like a link to check out your comic.

I think that is the main reason we do this.

That is also why I appreciate my artist, she managed to get my characters just the way I envisioned them. I was so excited when I saw the first tests and thought "yeah! those are my creations!"
