Hey guys,

I used to do a comic called Walking Upright that I was trying to get syndicated for a while. It never worked out, but oh well. Last fall I was feeling defeated and just started writing jokes in a notebook. Next thing I knew I had about 20 or 30 written so I decided to start drawing them up and putting them online.

Since January I have been updating twice a week. My goal is to post regularly for a year and then see what happens. It's been really fun so far, and creatively liberating. Well anyway...I have 25 now, so I figured it was time to see what people think. Check it out:

(BTW The website is really simple. I tried to make it not look like a comicpress site, and make it mobile friendly, but let me know if there are any issues with it.)

These are adorable and really should be available as greeting cards.

At first glance, this comic seemed way too cute, but the humour has just the right amount of edge to balance it.

Also, the humour is funny. I like that in humour. Smile

Great comic!

Thanks guys! I kinda had a vision of a f*cked up childrens book for adults, so that is why I draw everything so cute and cartoony. I love old Golden Books and illustrators like Mary Blair.

Rustmonster, that's a good idea about making some greeting cards...hmm, will have to look into this.

and UGGG somebody kill that spammer!!

I'd like to hear William Shatner reading those spam posts - OH! I call dibs on that strip!

What a pleasant surprise. As rustmonster mentioned, you have a great platform for greeting cards with this comic. You should pursue it.

Oh, and I really enjoy the simplicity of the site. It complements the comic perfectly.

Nice! Usually I dislike the "slap a texture on everything" look, but you're really making it work.

This is the best humor strip I've run across in years. A great mix of cute, mellow, and morbid. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Great stuff, jpcline. Like everyone has mentioned, an excellent blend of humor and artistic styles.

I like the greeting card idea, too! Also, these strips might be ideal for posters. Matthew Inman, creator of The Oatmeal, makes posters of his comics... I saw that and thought it was a great idea.

Keep it up!

On the one hand, chiming in with another "these are great!" probably isn't helpful.

On the other hand, being a webcomicker, I know how uplifting it is to hear "these are great!"

Seriously though, you're managing to bring the funny with not only a good sense of timing and imagery, but at least on my computer screen your format is really effective for the web, because the punchline is tucked away behind the scroll, and sometimes it's completely not what I expect.

Thumbs up! Very Happy
