Hello everyone.
For the past year I've been making a comic called Another Tower. Recently I've moved away from single, self-contained stories and have started trying things with a little more heft and "continuity." I'm a little out of my comfort zone, so I thought I'd come out of the woods and open myself up to some feedback. This is a panel from the first page:
The story starts here http://www.anothertower.com/2012/09/25/moon-sleep/
I'm also messing around with poetry and trying to integrate it into the traditional webcomic format. It's probably not for everyone but I'd appreciate any feedback or constructive criticism. Unabashed negativity is also welcome. By all means, send me your rage. I will hug it tightly. I bet it tastes delicious.
I update on Mondays.
Thanks so much,
Bob Schofield |

Very cool. Remids me of a lot of indie comics I used to read. |

Thanks.
I was definitely going for an indie comic aesthetic, so I must be doing something right.
I like the idea of taking maximum advantage of the space a webpage provides, and not just cramming a comic into 3 or 4 panels at the top of a page.

Your cross-hatching really makes those three panels. That's superb work. Reminds me a lot of the indie comics from the 60s and 70s. I love it! _________________

everyone is the nicest.
i know what you mean doogl mcdoog.
my intention was to take away some of the clutter in the speech bubbles.
instead of loading it down with periods and commas,
i wanted to use the shape of the bubble as its own kind of punctuation.
i was thinking of it a bit like line breaks in poetry.
so the end of a bubble is roughly equivalent to a period or new paragraph,
while an indentation in the bubble indicates a momentary pause like a comma.
is this experiment wildly unsuccessful?
i think that blank tone probably crops up the most in episode 7:
http://www.anothertower.com/2012/11/05/moon-sleep-7/
but i think it's mostly just because that is a flat wall of text crawling down the right side of the page.
or not.
here's a sequence from the next comic.
