antleonardi01 suggested that for the sake of easier readability, we need a new font for the next chapter of Rasputin Barxotka. While I am in complete agreement, finding comic-friendly fonts that have Cyrillic characters is extremely difficult. For this reason, I currently use Witzworx combined with the dreaded Comic Sans, bolded and stretched out. This kind of jerryrigging is a huge inconvenience for me as a letterer and it slows down my workflow something fierce.

Thankfully, I found Jovanny Lemonadís fabulous free font page. Not only are these fonts excellent, they have the Cyrillic alphabet that I desperately need. If you can use any of his fonts for your own projects, be sure to throw a donation his way. Now hereís where I need your help; look at these choices:

The next chapter of Rasputin Barxotka (NSFW) will be more action-oriented, and it's going to be a big saucier. The art style is also going to be a bit different to reflect for that change, even though it will be similar to what I already do. Now, if you could please vote for your favorite font, I'd really appreciate it.

I'll let you know my final choice next week after all the polls I put out there in Internet-land come back to me. Smile

The second one looks hard to read.

Hard to say about the others, I guess it would be easier if they were actually put in a sample page of your comic.

Yes, I think a mockup is called for. Much easier to help pick one if I can see them in a speech bubble. I'm glad you're switching the font !

London is barfy and I thought as much, but it was dyslexic-friendly, which is why I considered it. You're the third person aside from me to say as much. Still it does make a decent sound effect font.

Your wish is my command.

I'm liking Flow or Neucha.

Best, TT

iaviv: Those two fonts seem to be getting the most positive reaction.

Yeah I'd say those two are the best. Flow is a little more italicized than I'd like, but it's more attractive than Neucha.

That's interesting, I've never heard of that. What makes a font easier for people with dyslexia?

Ironically I use "I hate Comic Sans" as my comics font haha.

OT: I think any font that's clearly got caps and lowercase separate is a winner.

Snotnarok

I really like Comics Sans on a personal level because it is incredibly dyslexic-friendly (I am extremely dyslexic) and it has every character known to man. Unfortunately, people have a totally visceral reaction to it, so I tend to use Witzworx instead, even if it is NOT kerning-friendly.

I agree on fonts with both cases and I thank you for your feedback.

If we're voting, Flow suits these sample panels best, tho' Cuprum isn't a bad second.

I'd say 'Flow' is the cream of the crop, here. Good on the eyes, easy to read, and I'd imagine it's also very easy to bend into all manner of speech bubble shapes.

I actually did use a make-your-own-fonts program at one point. In fact, this comic used a custom font until Ram Lama took over the art: http://rasputincatamite.com/archive/ugly-alex-gets-startled/
Unfortunately, my alignment sucked eggs, I need dyslexic-friendly fonts, and it was way too much work. I also I'm kinda over using Witzworx. The style of the comic is changing, so this is the right time to change fonts.

The fonts I picked here (with the exception of London which I nixed already) are generally pretty readable. I also had to test them to make sure that my dyslexia wasn't going to be an issue -- which is why I typically like Comic Sans and Witzwork.

Really, I am looking for something very specific and at this point I have way too much work to reinvent the wheel. But, I appreciate the advice nonetheless.

dpat57 and Old Herb.
Thank you!

I am not a Jedi! I'm just a comic artist. I can't handle that kind of responsibility!!! *Cries Inconsolably*
