I have been making some new comics. Perhaps you would like to see them?

I like them a lot.

The Voice Actor was my favourite of the three. It just really wasn't what I was expecting.

Fantastic! They're really good. I love the design of each by the way. The color was minimal but were used well for each composition. Great usage! You make a book and sell the shit!

A neat little collection!

The Saddest Whale touched me. My blowhole welled up.

The Voice Actor angered me, he knew what he was getting into when he signed up for the damn job! Mewing loser!

I'm still thinking about The Crossroads. Which is probably as planned.

Jesus, there's some melancholy for you. I really like them. I think Crossroads is my favorite (not sure what that says about me). Keep 'em coming.

Just a question, why only post complete stories as opposed to a page at a time?

Awwww, I like The Saddest Whale.

I dig the limited color palette. I wonder what the next comic will be...

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. The fact that everyone likes a different story the best gives me a lot of confidence.

The plan is to make a book at some point. Or maybe a series of single issues with 3 or so of the stories in them. I don't know yet.

I'm going to be putting a note about this on an "About" page on the site soon. While I think a page a day is fine for gag strips, when I read a story like the kind I am making now I like to read them in chunks rather than be drip fed. I like the way that Rice Boy updates. Evan puts up 6-7 pages in one go every week or so. I just think it gives a more satisfying read to have a decent number of new pages rather than just one.

As my stories are short at the moment they allow me to put up complete stories with out too long between each update, but if I write anything much longer than The Crossroads then I'll put it up in parts.

I'll probably put up a new comic at the weekend. I'll bump this thread when It's done. I'm planning to get an RSS feed set up, but these kind of things are insanely complicated for me.

You're not the only one! I had the hardest time wrapping my mind around it, and setting one up for my comics was quite the task!

However, I would recommend www.rsspect.com for setting up an RSS feed. It's free and they have a great FAQ and step-by-step instructions for setting it up, which helped me out a lot.

Probably a lot of other good sites out there, too, but that's the one I found the easiest to set up.

So the new story is up. I have called it "Volcano".

Have a look if you like . . .

Incredible. It would actually be a little difficult for you to set up an automatic RSS feed, since you don't have one specific place your comics go.

The best way to do it would probably be to manually update it every time you release a strip, and to just include the title, the URL to the first comic, and a teaser image (like how you have your index set up).

In fact, I just went ahead and made you one (took me about 3 minutes)!

http://sbaker.infomancy.net/etc/blurredlines.zip

to use:
1) extract from ZIP file
2) open with notepad (or other simple text editor) to double check all the URLs and modify the descriptions
3) upload the .rss file to your site
4) grab the fancy-looking RSS icon from somewhere and put it on your site

When you need to update it with a new comic:
1) open with notepad
2) copy one of the item records

e.g.
Code:

The Saddest Whale

The Saddest Whale

The Saddest Whale

The Saddest Whale

3) paste it and modify the new item as needed
4) re-upload

It's not as elegant as an automatic one, and it takes more time to maintain, but since your URLs differ widely and you're not using a database back-end, it's probably the easiest way to do it.

That aside, I think a t-shirt of that giant squid saying "Fight! Fight! Fight!" would sell like hotcakes.

HOTCAKES!

Thanks a lot for this. It'll be a huge help!
Glad you like the comic.

OK I've put up the RSS feed that thestripedone made for me. Could someone who has a reader maybe try and add it to see if it's working properly?

Thanks.
