So... I have been drinking... and I will say, my jokes are much funnier now. Perhaps it is the booze lowering my sense of humor or... perhaps booze are helping my humor much the same way they help my pool game.
Do any of you guys/gals write while drinking to improve your comedy.. if so.. does it seem as funny the next morning?

I generally find it increases my output of ideas. Quality is pretty hit and miss. Makes the process more fun though. Makes most things more fun. _________________ |

Well.... it is morning. My head is pounding and my stomach is turning. As I look back on the above post I am surprised it actually made sense. I barely remember posting it. I think I will stop by one more time later today to make sure I still feel the same way... _________________ |

Drinking and drugs work in the short term but not long term - good to cut loose (and keep a notebook handy) every now and then.

...although recently my wife pointed out the term "every now and then" really means all the time (think about it). That's not what I meant, of course...only occasionally use the drinking and drugs for content development...that's more like it.

Actually, I think it means more than all the time: "every now" "and then" (some). This implies always, and then a bit more. _________________ |

Never, but I have some very serious alcoholism on both sides of my family, so I've been told to avoid it. And I have. _________________ Ed Womack

I write drunk sometimes, but usually I only do it as an exercise. I don't generally write and publish a final piece of content that way.
Yes. I get drunk for art and science.
It's fun though. Like anything you do drunk, it lowers your inhibitions. It may not improve your sense of humor per se, but it may help you to explore topics you'd normally be uncomfortable (or lack confidence) writing about. |

I'm one of those weird people who never drink. It just makes me feel uncomfortable, too hot and (even more) clumsy. Basically, me on alcohol is much like me suffering from some kind of contagious disease, so I decided not to do that.
Yeah, life and soul of the party me.

I've made a point of avoiding alcohol - I strongly suspect that I have an addictive personality, and I prefer not to tempt fate. So I write (and draw) sober. |
