I'm a cnc programer/setter/operator.
I work 40+ hours a week in a crappy factory turning and milling bolts and studs.
It's as exciting as it sounds.
It's eating my soul. |

I'm getting ready for an English teaching job in South Korea. It'll be an interesting experience, but a fun way to pay the bills. |

I work at an art museum part time.
I get crazy benefits.
When it's slow I can actually draw at work. |

I work as quality control for the mortgage unit of a large California bank.
You know when you call you bank or credit card company and they say 'this call may be monitored for quality control and training purposes'? Well I'm the one who listens to and evaluates the calls and call center agents.
I get to hear some interesting stuff in my job, to be sure. |

I kept thinking I'd already replied in this thread, but apparently, it was in oneo f the previous "what do you do for a living" threads.
I'm a freelance writer and editor. After nearly 30 years in the business, I have enough work to keep me going (although surprisingly little of it has my byline), yet I'm still not career-forward enough to have an agent. Ah, mediocrity...what a weird place to be... _________________ What I lack in sincerity, I make up for in sarcasm.

Just been fired after eight years.
Their reason? I had some time off sick last year which despite being certificated by my doctor was "too long"
By the way, it was a medical service that I worked for.
What I believe to be the real reason? There are redundancies coming up in the new year and I believe that firing me is a way of avoiding redundancy payouts and thus saving money.
Silver lining: I get to spend the whole of Christmas with my family for the first time in nine years and I get loads of time to draw again. _________________ |

Pretty much just desk jockey.
I work at the customer service department for a marine and industrial coatings manufacturer, though the past two years have seen me moving trough a management position, back down the hierarchy and now working on ERP related projects and inventing 5-line Excel formulas.
It pays the bills, keeps me off the street and is actually really damn interesting. Unfortunately it also keeps me from getting on the forums that often and it's been months since I last put pen to paper.
But yes, we do have heated discussions about the way paint dries. _________________
