After all the discussion last week, I was left wondering what the actual numbers were on this board (as opposed to what people think the numbers are). It's probably been asked before, but just out of interest ... here's a poll.

For the record, I'm a woman / female / lady / girl / ... whatever. Anyway. I have a womb, and I'm not afraid to use it.
Well, maybe a little bit (could be in labour for 48 hours? That sounds ... fun).

also Male and Female is the sex. Man and Woman is the gender.

No wonder I had to stop and think the difference between words sex and gender for a while - in my native language, as Google Translator agrees, both are one and the same. That word is sukupuoli, combination of words for "genus" (or family/kindred) and "half/side". Yes I know, no one couldn't care less but anyway, chit-chattery accomplished Very Happy

In English, "sex" refers to physical attributes, while "gender" refers to a series of accepted societal norms.

But only if you're anal about randomly assigned "scientific" definitions. In reality, the words developed in two different languages (Old Germanic via Old English, and Old Greek via Latin and Old french (I could be wrong on exact etymology of both words, but don't care)) and meant the same thing (whether you are a boy or a girl) until quite recently.

Biological cisgendered woman here. For the record, I also read dead tree comics, am a (VERY) casual gamer, and occasionally envy males. Okay, frequently. They get to go without shaving, they don't have that lovely time of the month, and they can walk around topless on hot days without being shamed (much). I also make jokes about being transgendered and cross-dressing. But I still identify as a woman.
