Now that I have my first SDCC as a professional out of the way, I'm looking forward to next year where I'll have a clearer idea of what needs to be done.
PS. I'm glad you warned me about the freebie table. You were totally right and you saved me a bunch of money because I ended up only putting a few out on Thursday to gauge traffic. Once I realized it had almost zero impact, I held all the rest back for myself and future cons where they will do me more good. |
We hadn't really had time to look up any comic news sites, so no, I hadn't seen your article. Found it now! I'm not sure we got any clicks out of it, but if nothing else it's a mention on a popular site, and that's great for Google searches.
The best thing about pro status is that (unless they change their policies), it's good for three years before you have to renew, which means you get to kick back and just about let the badge come to you with a minimum of fuss and registration shenanigans needed. Minimums of registration fuss has become a very valuable commodity in recent years.
And yeah, I don't know... maybe if you have thousands and thousands of fliers that would be able to last the whole Con, you might see some good out of the freebie table. But even though I get our fliers printed for a lot less money now than before, that's still too expensive an experiment for me to bother with. _________________
