I'd guess it's either a Viagra dispenser or a condom protector.

It's a little plastic case to protect a Star Trek com badge when in transit, obviously.

Why, of course!

I'm pretty sure it's typically Dutch.

Well, given that they're made of wood and wood doesn't last that long in the ground, at least not in that kind of condition, I'd say they are not archaeological finds, and probably no older than three or four hundred years, so if they're even that old, they were passed down rather than lost and then dug up, or else taken straight from the original owners by pre-1900 colonial collector types or anthropologists, who didn't have the same kinds of ethical codes existant in a post-colonial modern world.

I would guess they were probably native American, and chances are they originate in modern-day Canada, given that JD is Canadian.

But other than that, no clue. So I'll go with the good old fall-back all archaeologists go for when stumped by an apparently useless object, and suggest it may have had ritual or religious use. But then, that's what early archaeologists said about strange little metal objects found in Roman sites in Britain, which later turned out to be for applying cosmetics, but they'd not considered that because it was the 1920s and in those days almost all archaeologists were men and did not apply cosmetics.

Uh, so yeah. Ritual use label.
