If the body of work produced in 2009 is substantial enough, surely a finished comic can compete in the regular competition.
Are we planning on reserving a special award for those who've abandoned stories half-way through?
In my book, story comics which go on 'indefinate hiatus', leaving comitted readers who've invested time into the story in the lurch, are about as far from award deserving as you can get.
Most story webcomics stretch several years in the telling, so the fact that if they end a few months into a calendar year makes it difficult to win awards that year, not so significant.
And really, shouldn't awards be about celebrating the living comics rather than the dead ones?
