I'm sure most or all of you on this forum have, at least, made a few friends over the Internet. Some of you may have even eventually met these friends outside of the 'net.

Gifts have been known to be sent between "eFriends" (or should it be iFriends?). By that, I mean physical gifts (not things you can send in an email). To some people, this may seem like a silly topic as there isn't that much of a difference between this and sending/receiving between "tangible friends". But to me at a least, the whole sending/receiving between net friends feels so different simply because you may have never actually "met" this friend. And also because of that nature, there's something especially touching about getting a gift from a friend you've never met in real life. Call me weird if you'd like (and join the club Wink )

So this thread is about the stuff you've sent to or received from your internet buddies (especially those you've never met).

Myself... (as far as I can recall)

I've sent:
- a used 3 MP digicam as a gift
- money via Western Union (to help a good friend out of financial difficulties)

And I've received:
- A Yellow SPD Power Ranger bobble-head
- a new copy of the PC game "Half-Life" (this was especially nice because my friend never told me he was planning to do this)
- the first and second printed issues of the webcomic Dark Red (gift from the author herself)
- tea! Yorkshire tea!

eFriends, hmm? I met my wife-to-be over the internet. Does she count? :P

I was doing this kind of thing back before I even had the internet. I used to write off for music fanzines and obscure self-produced CDs, and would quite often strike up a rapport with the people at the other end. Ahh, those were the days. I recall in particular an exchange of bizarre brands of sweets with somebody in Scotland. It seemed like such a wondrous far-off place when I realised they had different sweets there. For the record, I live in, er, England.

XD

...I have sent handmade beaded jewellery, prints, buttons (the kind you pin onto a shirt), candy, and the first 3 Jak games (though not all in one package, haha).

I'm considering sending my old tablet to a friend who still hasn't gotten one, just as a gift-- on the rationale that even an old and occasionally glitchy tablet is better than none, and that I really want to see what her already-gorgeous mouse artwork would look like with an improved tool. And if contest prizes count as gifts, sometime around the end of July I'll be sending out a bunch?

I have received candy (delicious, delicious foreign candy from the far-off US of A), homemade fudge, a book, letters, and little bits of original artwork. Oh, and a Revoltech figurine of a mecha from the anime Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann.

I've both sent and received 5 items. I sent a custom CD, got a t-shirt, sent, um, I forget, and received a novelty button thing. Did a CD trade with 3 other people, hence received 3 custom CDs. The £5 I spent on postage was probably the best £5 I've spent Very Happy

And I've met 12 people from the internet IRL, planning to up this to something like 20 in the next 18 months.
Considering I can't drive yet, I'm not doing too bad.

Hmm I can't recall anything partciular at this time. I haven't been as active in the past few years on the net. I met my boyfriend on the internet though a few years ago and I sent him a picture, and he sent me one back a short time before we met.

I've bought people games and t-shirts.
I've had someone buy me a delivery of balloons for a birthday, a (now ex, then future) girlfriend buy me a subscription to a porn site and friends buy me a plane ticket to come see them.
I've sent people chocolates, christmas cards and comics.
I've had people send me postcards and a I got a wedding invitation once.

A friend tells me she's collecting things to send me when she fills the box.

No I don't spend too much time on the Internet, not at all.
