|
|
I want to do a special series of "Christmas" comics that have my characters working at a 'Homless Shelter for Webcomic Characters' where characters who's webcomics have ended (or were abandoned, you know) have come to spend the holidays in warmth and relative comfort of other similarly down-on-their-luck characters.
While I know using other people's characters, especially in a humorous manner such as this, could probably be covered under the vague umbrella of Fair Use, I'd much rather have volunteers for this project. I'm proactively approaching a few people who's works have ended, but I'm opening it up to anyone else who wants to be included as well. No promises that I'll be able to fit everyone in, but I'm going to try.
So... if you did a comic that's done (one way or another), or have perhaps placed one of your projects on indefinite hiatus, and wouldn't mind me abusing your character a little (with links and references accompanying each comic, of course), please let me know so I can include them. Be sure to give links and an update on the status of the comic, like "Intentionally ended", "Abandoned", or "On Hiatus".
Also, if there's anyone you'd really like to see included - a comic that perhaps ended "too soon" for your tastes, that you'd like to see revived (even if it's just for a cameo), let me know them too... maybe I can contact the creator and work something out. _________________ |

Good point... that's kind of their bread and butter, isn't it?
Still, anyone from here is welcome to toss their ring into the hat. _________________ |

All the characters from SFTI are long dead.

My news reporter character Bill Spiggot could use a little something...you know...part time...until I find something else for him.
Although I understand the entire staff over at Accidental Centaurs is also looking for work. _________________ What I lack in sincerity, I make up for in sarcasm.

My lack of continuity means that any of the nameless souls I have featured are now retired I guess.
But more to the point, I think the cast of Melonpool could do with some action. First webcomic I ever read and now its gone _________________ |

While the comic is alive and kicking, there was a homeless character I had that hasn't been featured since about April of this past year. Phil the Future Bum, the wino from 2029.
Free reign to use him if it suits your needs. _________________

While I cannot officially condone such actions, I think it is highly likely that I would look the other way were some of my characters to show up in such a scenario.
Mol from Lords of Death and Life is not only "out of work" in the metaphorical sense, but homeless by the end of the actual story too. Connie and Matilda from A Mad Tea-Party are hopeful of having work again soon, but have been living off welfare for quite some time. My other characters have had so little work from the start that I don't think they even qualify for employment insurance. Food stamps for all, I say. _________________ Jonathon Dalton

Oh, I forgot Flying Ted my occasional filler. It's technically an in-comic newspaper strip, and I'm killing the author in a one-off in June or so, so he's pretty much unemployed (I don't plan to use him again even as a guest strip). _________________ What I lack in sincerity, I make up for in sarcasm.

Mr Burny-head is feeling a little neglected I'm sure since his comic was put on indefinite hiatus. _________________

Well... crap.
I'm really sorry to get everyone's hopes up, I am, but we're having some serious staffing problems at my work... I just got my "re-revised" work schedule for the coming two weeks, and I'm scheduled for over 60 hours a week... so I don't think I'm going to be having time for this level of a project.
Which sucks, because it was sounding awesome. Oh well, maybe next year, I can plan this a little better and maybe make this a multi-comic effort. Again, sorry to get everyone's hopes up. _________________ |

Ah that sucks.
Don't worry though. It can't be helped. _________________
