Idling can be great fun; it's when you sit in a chat room and do nothing for all hours of the day.

Because if people only stay there while they are talking, then there would be no one in the chat 99% of the time, and the other 1% of the time there would probably only be one person, asking where the heck everyone was.
Conversations don't need to take place in real time. I can say something to oppernaR in the chat and he may get back to me in 3 minutes.. 3 hours.. or 3 days!

You won't miss out on any of the crazy parties we have, who knows when they might happen
All the cool kids are doing it.

This is what you need to do:

Download This (windows only sorry!), extract it some where, run the mIRC.exe file (don't worry about it saying that it's a 30 day trial, after 30 days you will just have to click a button on a "Nag Screen" to use the software)
You will see something like this..

A - Your "real" name and "real" email address. My suggestion: put something fake for both.
B - Nickname is your first choice for your name to display in the chat. If some one else is already using that name, then it will use Alternative
C - When you're done with A & B, click this.
Now that you've connected, sit back and stay awhile. Soon you will be enjoying the fine art of idling. Ahh.. doesn't that feel nice?

Mayhap tomorrow I'll post some details on downloading an IRC client and the fine art of idling.

Christ, I can't believe I never noticed that before. I guess I wasn't really looking for it- I'm not big on chat rooms. Message boards are better.
