Just stated using this site and am a bit dismayed to find about 90% of the recently updated comics to actually be really old and not updated in years. It's great that they are still available but it's choking the life out of all the truly current ones. Although I'm guessing going through thousands of sites is quite a big job, it would really beneficial to everyone.

Huh this is true--maybe more like 50% than 90%, but definitely a lot showing up as updated today, for instance, have not actually updated in quite some time. To pick just one example, "The Chian Empire" is listed in the comics updated today (Feb 20, 2016)

http://www.brendankeeley.co.uk/html/the_chian_empire1.html

but on the site itself, the last update is labelled the 10th of September--and it isn't clear what year that was, but the last year in the shoutbox is 2006. And just another example, this one

http://dissolutionnovel.blogspot.com/

doesn't have a comic there, and says it went on hiatus in 2014.

The TWCL update spider is supposed to be looking for a code in the pages like this

Code:
<!-- Last Update: 20/02/2016 -->

to find their last update date; I don't see that in those pages I listed, but maybe the spider is checking some other page on their site (I can't remember if this can be set separately from the landing page, maybe so) that has a script set to auto-increment that snippet of code the spider checks--which they really shouldn't be doing. If that's what's going on, then yeah a human would have go to through all the sites maybe once a year or so and verify that they're actually updating comics.

Or maybe the spider is just wacked out and it's imagining these updates for some reason now.

(Also we need a new thread, this thread has the ghost pages problem from that forum glitch we had a year or so ago.)

Ghost problems? What ghost problems?
I don't see any ghost problems.

What's going on? I checked out several of the "new" comics recently added and most if not all are listed "not checked for updates" including mine:

HIT GIRLZ

Are you guys having a problem with comics being compatible with the site?

Best to send a message to the admins via the Report Broken Comic link on the main site page.

How long does it take for a broken comic to be fixed? I've been trying to get my comic fixed for a week now:

HIT GIRLZ
http://www.thewebcomiclist.com/p/26588/HIT-GIRLZ

Should I file another broken comic report?

It's august now and almost a month since I first reported my comic as "broken". How long does it take for a "broken" comic to be fixed?

Has a fix for the signature situation been worked out yet? I'd quite like to have a banner for my comic there. Thanks for any assistance!

You have to PM the site admin Wendy Wood, she can hook it up for you with her powers.

Hi. I think the update tracker is pretty much broken. I checked on mine and even though I updated several hours ago it still shows last update being on May 9'th.

Also it looks like the Latest comic updates all point back to May 10th.

Looks like 'Subscribers' is down... you can't click on any comic's subscribers to see whom all likes a comic.
