My friend and I are hoping to get a webcomic started this summer. I write and he does the typesetting and backgrounds. The problem is that he's awful at drawing people, so an artist who would be willing to draw the characters and foreground would be appreciated.
The comic is a comedy about the ups and down of starting an indie game studio (I have experience in that so I usually base the stories on things that have come up in my life). There are 3 main characters and a few occasional people as well. That being said, since the focus is on comedy writing the art wouldn't need to be amazing, just competent enough to be able to tell people apart. No color is needed either.
The comic would be a weekly release with 9 panels, and we already have the first 8 issues story boarded/drafted. The comic is currently expected to go on indefinitely but an artist who only wants to join for a set period of time would be fine. Plot arcs would last 2 months (8 issues), each dealing with a particular problem (ie. Finding an Artist for a project is the first Plot Arc) and in between would be jokes and occasional side stuff.
We can't offer any money at the moment, but the work experience may be valuable to any budding artists as well as if the comic becomes a success, obviously the artist would get a cut of any profits. We also have a website to host it on (the other guy is a hobby site designer).
Before anyone asks, no we don't have any proof of our work previously aside from the drafts. So if you are a webcomic vet and you think that working with us would be beneath you, then don't bother saying so, because we get a lot of that. We are really passionate about this so anyone who does apply should be willing to put in the work needed without being hassled every step of the way. We're here to make art and anybody who applies should feel similarly.
Thanks for giving us your time in reading this rambling and I hope I didn't scare anybody off. Hoping to see someone apply soon
p.s. if the topic is still here, we're still looking.
