I'm not sure what is going on in this thread. There are arguments over who knows about comics and who doesn't?
I read through several pages of your comic.
Then I read through the posts here.
My thoughts to the Stonertainment creators.
According to the posts here you have been late on more than one occasion. Being that it is a stoner comic maybe that will be some sort of reverse success for you but in my experience and the experience passed on to me by others before me, don't be late. EVER
As soon as you are late or start being inconsistent it sends a message that you are not reliable or professional. Your readers will turn on you in a heart beat and it's hard to get them back.
Also, in reading your comic I too had a hard time with the lettering. NOt just because of the different font types but also because I never know who is speaking. If there are more than two characters in a panel, i have to guess who is speaking because the dialogue boxes don't have tails.
Perhaps this is the way sprite comics are made. I don't know. What I do know is that for ME it was hard to follow.
All that being said, you are doing it! You are telling your story! That's what comics and webcomics are about and why it is such a fantastic medium. Don't give up, listen to your readers and adapt.
One last thing. I have learned this from experience as well. When someone comes on here or anywhere else on the web or even in person ( think about cons), they start telling you how this sucks or that sucks. Remember two words...SMILE and NOD.
Listen to what they have said. Don't react to it. It makes you look like an ass who gets easily offended which will bring more of them, in droves!
Sometimes it's hard to wade through the emotional reaction of someone saying your work is crap and really hear what they are saying. Most times however there is something tangible in what they are saying even if their delivery was suck.
Again, just smile and nod. Say thank you for them taking the time to respond and bitch about it to your partner later. Imagine if movie stars reacted to everything said about them. If you are going to put your stuff out there then you have to get a thick skin and let it just roll off.
I've babbled on longer than i should. Keep pursuing your passions. |

thank you so much for the feedback, and the last thing we wanted was to start a darn war on our thread. Now to this weeks update:
Hey everyone after a weeks wait here it is the beginning of the fight between Chron-l vs Marley and Jerry. And I think think Chron-l really struck a chord with that slacker comment. We are going to stick with once a week updates for now, and if we can will will do a second update. And we want to get up the bios for the characters it is just we really need a hand so if anyone can offer us some advice( we would even take some help) just message us. So hope you enjoy the new update.

Man this thread annoys me. I thought antleonardi's advice (even though I myself did not completely agree with it) was genuine, honest feedback delivered in a pretty encouraging way.
This section of the forum is described as "want other peoples opinions on your pride and joy? Ask away in here." Stonertainment themselves said " any feedback at all is welcome". The way antleonardi's feedback was dealt with suggests they should have said "feedback that is very minor and doesn't mean we have to change too much is welcome". I find it interesting that the "rebuttle" to the feedback was far more vicious than the advice itself. This area of the forum is specifically for feedback, not for giving feedback on feedback.
By slamming people who give advice it is just going to deter anyone from giving any comic advice at all. Given that most artists are usually starving for criticism this really sucks.
A template for a different response might be: "Thanks for the feedback, I don't quite agree with everything you said but appreciate you taking the time give some thoughts." This comes across slightly more appreciative than "I am not gonna get into that one because that was a very ignorant claim, what makes you the high judge on what is art." _________________ |

MattCampbellArt and Wild Horse
Considering that antleonardi01 and I already resolved the issue that lead to the heated discussion via PM in a civilized manner months ago, I'm a bit frustrated about the direction this conversation is taking. The feedback of feedback thing was actually a lot more involved than it appears here, and it basically boiled down to a miscommunication between the two of us. I am sure that TheStonertainment was probably done with the issue of being overly sensitive about criticism as well, judging from the reaction to the latest critique. At this time, I'm rather annoyed that:
1- There's no delete button for the heated replies on any of our ends.
2- That this issue is being resurrected months later long after the parties involved are no longer interested in pursuing this negativity, by people who were not involved in the argument.
The criticism of my behavior (and I know it's me, so no need to spare my feelings with veiled implication) is fair and I apologize my role in any discomfort to anyone on this forum. I take full responsibility for what I said, and antileonardi01 did as well. He was incredibly gracious once we reached an understanding of what was happening and how we were coming across to each other. Unfortunately, I thought that this had been taken care of months ago and I am disappointed that what I hoped was a dead issue full of negativity is being revived. :/ _________________ Visit Catnose Comics and Velvet Rasputin to see my comic art and graphic novels. |

No worries. I obviously wasn't aware of the PM discussion you guys had and was just a bit concerned that antleonardi came out seeming like the bad guy which didn't seem quite fair.
Glad to hear you guys have sorted it out.
