So, I was going to wait until I had a few more pages under my belt until I posted a promo thread for it, but I'm impatient.

Commander Cottontail, a single panel furry space comic made of bricks, is a new comic I launched on the 19th of last month. It's made from Lego, Mega Bloks and various cheapy clone brands, plus a whole load of post production stuff.

Yes, anyway, it updates every Monday and Thursday and on certain holidays as well. So far there are only five pages, a couple of reviews over in the blog section and a couple of early, early versions of strips in the extras section.

Here's the link to the first page.

I hope you like it.

I'm really excited to see where this goes!

I had a (vaguely) similar idea a while back to make comics using those little animal toys called Calico Critters or whatever--because they also made dollhouses and all sorts of accessories to go with them.

I worked in a infant/toddler to pre-teens focused toy shop at the time, so I was probably losing my mind a little.

Again--Really cool stuff! Keep making it!

Thanks.

You mean these guys? Very Happy

Yeah, I am totally a kid some times. Rolling Eyes

Actually, I would love to see a webcomic using Sylvanian Families (as they're known over here) toys. I couldn't do it myself, because I have nowhere near the money or space I'd need to do it properly, so I've just got a few of them, mostly rabbits, on a shelf in the living room.

HAHAHA yes those!!!

I had a decent discount at the time--and access to some very nice cameras--but I was also in my final year of college and writing two thesis simultaneously while doing a senior project in acting...so I was a bit busy.

I thought it would be funny maybe? Haha

EDIT--just saw your location. NE England? Giiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl you from York?

Nah, I'm a Southerner, now living up in County Durham. I'm currently located about 50 to 60 miles North of York.

I've only been to York once for a weekend, but I found the whole area really nice. Even took a trip to Rivaux (spelling?), which was impressive.

I've still got some friends in Liverpool and others in...I think Bedford is it? They used to live in Worcester, but had to move because they had a baby and then another!

Bump!

Commander Cottontail is now up to ten pages and six review blog entries.

If anybody else would like to give some feedback then, um, I'll give you a cookie or something.

: )

Man I totally thought I already replyinated to this thread! Well now that there are cookies involved I'm making no mistake. :D

I think it's pretty keen! I like the variety of backgrounds you've had so far; that's often a shortcoming in photo and especially brick comics.

For some reason I also really like that he's a sci-fi space bunny whose head looks like chocolate. Yummy! It always makes me think of the good parts of Easter.

Trying to think of actual useful feedback... I suppose the photography and lighting could be a bit fancier--you know like contrasting values and colors, depth of field, all that jazz. I don't really know anything about photography though so I can only imagine that's tricky to do!

Yeah, I'm trying to keep it from being too boring visually. I am reusing sets a lot, specially things like the Commander's office, because it's mostly set on the one space station, but hopefully I can keep it varied enough.

And yes, you can't go wrong with scifi bunnies. : )

I do need to set up some kind of permanent lighting rig. At the moment I'm just shooting with daylight, which is less than ideal. Hopefully I can sort something out sometime soon-ish though.

Bump!

Commander Cottontail is currently up to 15 pages now, so it seemed like a reasonable enough time to give this thread a bump.

Shameless self-promotional bump!

Page 22 is up and as always any kind of thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated. : )

I like this ninja planet idea. And those Chinese LEGO knock-offs are pretty interesting!

Thanks. Smile

Yeah, there are some quite funky clones out there and some quite terrible ones too.
