I've had the silly idea of running a text adventure on Twitter:

http://twitter.com/#!/search/%23cmdprompt

You know how a text adventure works, right? :D

The first valid command will be accepted. Just be sure to include #cmdprompt in your reply.

... I have no idea where this is going.

(Had to shorten the Twitter search URL with bit.ly since this phpBB 2.0 board doesn't seem to like the special characters in it. :P)

Purely accidental, I assure you. :)

Having tried Googling it a bit, it has certainly been done before, although the several examples I found (@textadventure, @txtadventure) don't seem to have had much staying power.

Updating--at least once a day--is pretty easy, and I'm finding it to be a nice little creative writing exercise, where I can't predict what's coming so I have to be on my toes; I guess the real hurdle is keeping enough people coming back to keep getting input. Fortunately I can drive people there from my webcomic site when I need more. MORE! :d

Incidentally, if you like text adventures, you may be happy to know that there's a quite well done "PHP web hack" version of Zork (or its earlier incarnation, "Dungeon"; they had to change the name to "Zork"--which was a slang term at MIT for an unfinished program--when the publisher of "Dungeons & Dragons" pressed an enforcement of copyright claim, rather ironically as D&D was one of the primary inspirations of the Zork creators).

This web version of Zork even lets you create a secure login, after which you can save and restore your game from anywhere! Quite well done. The link:

This is a pretty quirky idea Smile. I like the sound of it, it could be quite fun!
