I've currently in the middle of revamping the current site and I'm thinking about going with a tableless design for it's layout flexibility, but I've heard some bad things about completely ditching the safety and reliability of tables.

I want to ask the people of TWCL their preferences for their site design and why. It'll go a long way in helping me settle on a strategy.

Tables are for eating off.

I cannot think of a single reason to use tables when coding a website.

I'm with rocketpig, there really isn't any advantage of tables over CSS nowadays, besides your familiarity with them. It may be a pain in the ass at first to convert your site to CSS, but once you do you'll find it was worth it when you consider how much easier it is to change the look and feel if your site, as well as the concistancy CSS has between different browsers vs tables.

As someone who can't for the life of himself, grasp CSS, yet understands HTML. Tables weren't that hard. So I tend to work in those instead of CSS.

Someday I might find the time to learn CSS, when i'm not writing a million stories. Or I'll have the money to pay someone. but till then I either use wordpress plugins, or tables.

I do, but that's just because I never bothered to learn CSS properly. :P

Alright, I've converted the index page and the last three comics to the new style. There's definitely some kinks I need to work out of course, but 90% of it seems to be working just fine.

I would definitely appreciate some criticism on the site design of people are willing to give it! I'm trying to get this thing con ready, so comments as designers or comments as regular internet users would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Add some padding to the blog cells or whatever they are in CSS so that the words don't run right into the side?
