This thread is just for discussing whether or not there should be an award for Best Costume Design.

I will open a poll based on the options suggested in this thread on Sunday 2nd August between 9 and 10pm GMT and close it around the same time on Sunday 9th August.

It seems too obscure to me, and isn't it really just a subsection of "art"?
I mean not even the WCCAs with their 17 categories in 2008 and 24 in 2007 did this.

Nah. You could just roll this kind of thing into the "Best Character" category, if we end up using it. Otherwise it's part of Best Art.

I'm gonna have to give this one a resounding no. I think ttallan is right, this can be wrapped into best art, or best character IMO.

Hmm, although I supported the idea when it was first mentioned, you have made good valid points. However, I do still like the category, so maybe we can have a look at it again next year. I was thinking, after the awards we could send out a poll to all the registered voters and ask their opinions on various categories and what categories should be added next year. If this category gains support then maybe we should reconsider.

We do the occasional parody where our main charcters dress up as cowboys, ninjas etc. So this would actually be awesome for us if that's what you mean by "costume." However I don't know how many other comics do this type of thing.

This is part of the unweildliness factor. I think this is a category that's a bit much, especially for our first go-round at awards.

Ive found that technical skill as an artist doesnt always correlate with being good at costume design.

Ive come up with 4 categories:

Good artist, good designer.
Good artist, bad designer.
Bad artist, good designer.
Bad artist, bad designer.

How many examples can you come up with for each category?

Wow talk about resurrecting an old thread. But while you have a valid point, Nunu, costume design can be considered as part of character creation, for which we have an award.
