I'm still kind of heady about the way that my offhanded simile in the Scot Pilgrim thread was received, so I'm making up a metaphor (and simile) game. Simple rules. Previous person makes a simple declarative, and the next person jazzes it up with a suitable metaphor then adds their own simple declarative. There is no continuity except from declarative to metaphor.

example wrote:
She called out to me.

example response wrote:
She caled out to me, her voice grating with the promise of a thousand nights of awkward silence and perfunctory sex.

Now you try.

The car rolled through the night.

The car rolled through the night like a late-model harbinger of justice restored.

Next....

Then the rain started

Then the rain started, salivating salvation from desiccated dehydration.

Next up...

It was a jaunty dance

Her body slightly jiggled, her soft breasts undulating like a wave on a beach, caressing her soft body.

He has no inspiration

...but every time he tried to write, he found he had no inspiration, as if the muses themselves had abandoned him on the fateful night when his soulmate left.

He stood on the edge of the cliff.

He stood on the edge of the cliff, a motionless beacon beckoning the seekers of truth to the small building a hundred feet behind him, a sentinel warning against those who sought to destroy it.

The clock ticked.

The clock ticked, seconds sounding out the steady retreat of his waning life.

Marci walked.

Marc walked, his thoughts meandering like a gentle breeze watching the young girls.

The young man started
