Thanks Wendy, nice to know what's going on!
Congrats to the writers and artists who got the noms.
And to award admin and judges for pulling this together.
Truth to tell I'm unfamiliar with most of these comics (just goes to show the number and variety of comics out there!) but the links give me a chance to check 'em out. _________________ |

Well us judges have made decisions and the ceremony will go live tomorrow.
Personally I was surprised that Garfield won every single award, but then again, he's a cat who doesn't like Mondays, what's not to love? _________________ |

Where the fuck is Horndog? One of the best-drawn, best-written and funniest webcomics to debut in 2009, and not one nomination?
It's pretty damn clear that TWCL rigged the awards. All of the nominees are of mainstream comics by friends of the site. Not one alternative or underground comic.
Fuck you. |

Either you're a very skilled troll, or you're actually serious. Just in case it's the latter, let me spell it out for you.
1. The most likely answer for why Horndog didn't make the shortlists is because maybe it's not good.
2. Even if Horndog did get nominated, it won't be listed unless it has more nominations than others. Only the top 4 or 5 nominated comic are listed in the nominations shortlist, because in each category there are anything from 10 to 50 comics nominated only once or twice, and the judges can't read every single comic, so only the top few are shortlisted for the judges' perusal.
3. Horndog isn't underground. It's just not all that good. There's a difference.
4. We are very careful not to allow the awards to be rigged. Judges' comics are automatically disqualified from the shortlists, and several judges are not TWCLers, invited to become judges from outside. Each judge has the same vote weighting as the other judges in the category.
5. There's no need to be rude. _________________ "S*P*Q*R" |

To be full of truth (unlike, may I remark, yourself, oh dear nutty one, (not unlike a poor quality cake consumable made in substandard factories in places unknown to the civilised world) I am filled with the truth to the point of that it overflows from my mouth in to the air to your dear ear) the comic that you do so write was not so much appealing as much as appalling to the voter and in so being, did not gain the votes required, to claim this award was in some way "rigged", is a fallacy and I do so challenge you to come up with a hypothesis that is based on fact not conjecture taking in all the factual evidence and/or conditions around that this award is based.
For your consideration:-
No Judge may have a comic within the awards,
Most Judges have no prior history with this site or one may add had prior interactions (professional or social) with myself or other members of the team,
Awards are, in essence, a popularity contest and in being so, in the first stages at least, exclusive to popular comics only (this, perhaps sadly, rules out comics of persons rejected by the community for unjust behaviour and that the content of said comic is of a substandard or offensive to nominators or judges),
Violations of the terms of the contest are not permitted, namely, self promotion and multiple invalid votes (be that from the same ip or by the same person, please remember we know everything about the submitter that is required for nomination validation),
Wasting our time will not be tolerated and will be dealt with in according to the rules set out in T&C. _________________ Jessica Ottowell,

Perhaps we do need a new award after all: the Horndog Award for Biggest Nutjob in Webcomics. We can affectionately refer to it as a Bengo, or something. _________________
