We have a had quite a few forms that have come through that won't be counted for a number of reasons. If you haven't nominated yet then read this post and read the form too before you submit it.
1 - No personal details / insufficient personal details
Not everybody qualifies to nominate, so if you don't include either a website link or personal statement then your vote can't be counted. You don't need both, but it would be nice. Just one or the other will give us some of whether or not you qualify. You might be the perfect example of who these awards are for, but if you don't tell us how are we to know?
2 - No URLs for comics
It says it in bold in the form, but apparently people haven't been reading it. If you don't put the URLs then we can't check the comic. Yes we probably have it listed on the main site, but it is just not practical to go round and look up every comic name in order to get the correct address.
3 - Nominating yourself
"You may make one set of nominations and self-nomination is not allowed."
This is another bit that's in bold on the form. It wasn't when the form was first made live, so people that did so before the form was altered can get away with this. Nobody else can though. The nominations are to find out what everybody thinks deserves an award, not a way to promote yourself. If everybody votes for themselves we end up with no clear leaders and the whole thing is a bit pointless really.
4 - Submitting multiple forms
This has only happened once to my knowledge and hopefully that will be the only time that anyone tries this. I'm not talking about submitting two identical forms because you refreshed a page by accident. I'm talking about submitting two forms with two email addresses pretending to be two people. That's cheating and if you do that none of your forms will be counted and any nominations for your comic will not be counted. Policy on how long a block on nominations will last for is still being decided.
We're not being ban happy with this and we are being very careful to make sure there is definite evidence of cheating before doing anything about it.
Lesser Issues
A couple of lesser issues we've had are people not mentioning a character name when nominating in Best Lead and Best Supporting Character, as well as people nominating committee members or judges.
These aren't huge issues. In the case of the first one you can expect to receive an email from me asking for the character names and in the case of the second the individual nomination will be ignored when the forms are processed. It won't affect your other nominations in any way.
