The committee have got things pretty well organised at the moment, but what we really need is more judges.
Judges will, unfortunately, not be eligible to win any awards, whether or not they are judging the award in question. This is to counter any possible rigging and to avoid any accusations of such.
Judges will not be expected to judge every award, but we would like them to take on a few awards each. Judges can be from TWCL forums or could be people from outside of the site who you think would be a good person to contact. A full list of awards that we will be recruiting judges for will be up in a couple of days.
If you have any suggestions for who to approach to judge the awards you can either reply here or send me a PM.
Thanks for reading and extra special thanks in advance to everyone who volunteers or suggests a judge.
--------------------------
Edit: Categories that we are looking for judges for.
Best Comic
Best Writing
Best Colour Art
Best Black and White Art
Best Non-Traditional Art
Best New Comic
Most Improved Comic
The Innovation Award
Best Gag-a-day
Best LongForm
Best Lead Character
Best Supporting Character _________________

I have a ton of extra time and am ineligible for awards anyway. Also, I'm highly critical but have a heart of gold and some other cliches. Can I be a judge? _________________

Thanks Charlie. You're on the list of volunteers.
Also the top post has been edited to include a final list of awards (minus one that is still pending a decision).
I know some people aren't going to be happy with the way the list has been whittled down, but the decision to drop anything was made by the committee as a whole on the basis of how practical it will be for us to get this thing done. We even managed to lose a category that I really like personally, but there you go. _________________

I'm a big fan of David Troupes, and I think that he would be a cool guy to have judge. If we approached him in the right way, I bet he'd do it. _________________ S*P*Q*R |

If you’d like to have additional judges for the one or other category, I’d like to be one. (in all the categories in which Sandra and Woo would receive no votes anyway so that there is no chance of a conflict of interest) _________________ |

If you decided to be a judge you wouldn't be eligible for any of the awards this year I'm afraid. We decided that the best thing to do was to not have anyone who has access to the behind the scenes area to be eligible to win.
If we did it any other way it would leave things to open for accusations of rigging. _________________

Ah, okay, that sounds reasonable as well. How many different comics in each category does a judge have to look at? How do you handle comics with an archive of 3000+ pages that would take a full day to read for just that comic? _________________ |

So I guess you need no other judges… _________________ |

Sorry. It's been a bit hectic getting things sorted and doing non-awards stuff too.
Yes, we'd love more judges still.
As the awards are really to cover the previous year, I wouldn't expect any of the judges to read back further than a year into the archives unless they wanted to. _________________

Okay, then I’d like to be one. I have checked and the judge with the most categories currently has 5. I guess that’s a good upper limit, so you could put me into 5 categories as well (provided there are at most 5 nominees in each one, 3 or 4 would be better...).
However, there seem already enough judges (>= 4) in the following categories:
* Best Black and White Art
* Best Non-Traditional Art
* Best Gag-a-day
And I don’t like the category:
* Most Improved Comic
So I would be a volunteer for the following categories in this order of personal preference. But you might prefer to put me into categories with just two judges at the moment:
* Best New Comic (main preference!)
* Best Writing
* Best Comic
* Best Supporting Character
* Best Lead Character
* The Innovation Award
* Best Colour Art
* Best Long Form _________________  |

Cool. You're in.
Take a look at the main board index. You should see something extra.

While we're pointing things out, I'm listed under Best Black and White Artwork, but it's not listed under me... if that makes sense. |
