thanks Steve! I like your stuff too. Nice, clean line art and excellent lettering. Very professional submission; you should be proud of it, top 50 or not.
I feel bad for G though, you should make some where Wendell gets his comeupance! _________________ http://calmblueoceans.com/ |

Most of you may already know that the ten finalists (including 12 sample strips) have been announced and the public can vote for their favorite comic strip now.
… I wonder if I’m the only one that finds the following strip of Joe 6 Pack deeply unsettling? I don’t think it succeeds in making a clever joke by using the fact that an implied case of sexual child abuse that turns out to be a case of mere non-sexual child abuse in the last panel as the main source of humor.

Dusturbing? Yes. Abuse? Yeah, I got that too. But sexual? I think you're reading that into it. Could just be plain old child abuse.
What made you think it was sexual abuse, specifically? _________________ Mooncity

I still think you're reading it into the wording.
Either way it's not a great gag. _________________ Mooncity

Hm, the finalists. I might vote for one that didn't revolve around family life (do we *really* need more of those) or kids talking to animals (for no particular reason I'm just against this at this particular moment in time!).
Which leaves me with Buni or Nutz n' Doltz.
Buni it is! *votes*
I have a feeling one of the family comics is gonna win, though.
(Whoa, they have a video of the Pearls Before Swine guy on that page. That's one syndicated comic I actually like, so yay. ... Oh, the video's actually pretty lame. They could at least have zoomed in on the drawing more! And had a light on it. Sheesh. :P) _________________ |
