Post subject: Writer seeks artist for new comic thing
Hi everybody, this is my first post so go easy on me!
I’m an aspiring writer and I’m looking for an artist, with the plan to upload our combined masterpieces onto a website.
The project is easiest described as a 4 panel gag-a-week strip. However, each strip is often a lot more than 4 panels long (though, never more than a single page’s worth). Er, also there’s often not much of a gag! They’re basically just individual little moments that interest me (this could be anything from a conversation between two people drinking tea on the moon, to a wordless sequence of pictures showing a man’s heart breaking). Oh, and each of them is self-contained (i.e. there’s no plot or returning characters etc). Hopefully this makes sense to somebody out there, let me know if you need me to elaborate further on the premise! Some of them could be deemed offensive, too.
I’ve drawn rough sketches for many of them already. Here is an example of the type of thing I do (hope you like it!)…

The site will also contain some short (sometimes very short!) stories.
I’m looking for an artist who can draw in various styles, as appropriate for each picture. So, this could be full, cartoonish colour. For example, something like copper
http://boltcity.com/copper/copper_035_bunny.htm
or something completely minimalistic or in a certain imitational style, for example

Ok, so what can I offer the artist? Ideally, I’d be looking for a partner who wants to work with me on this all the way through (i.e. rather than me paying them, we’d see this as a joint venture). However, I understand that this might not be a feasible starting point… so I’m thinking of paying the artist for the first couple of pictures, so that they can then decide if they want to enter into this as a partnership. I’m flexible on this arrangement and happy to discuss it to find something that works!
I’ll sort out all the coding for the website when it goes live, although the artist will be more than welcome to help design the site if they so wish.
And that’s the proposal, in a nutshell! Any advice or suggestions/comments welcome.

p.s. What would the forum suggest is the going rate for paying an artist (say, for 1 full colour page such as those in Copper)?
